STR Articles 59 and 60 sponsor Attorney Steve Cohen and Zoning and Land Use expert Attorney Arthur Reade presented an educational webinar including:
- a summary of the outcome of the recent STR Land Court ruling
- a brief overview of what he is proposing for town meeting approval,
- why it is the most reasonable first step for Nantucket,
- why it is the only path to zoning clarification (the ZBA can only interpret what the voters pass at town meeting)
- how it protects neighborhoods now and sets the stage for current (Article 60) and future regulation
- how it complies with the intent of the state legislation that permits the regulation and taxation of STRs

WHAT IS OUR MISSION?
"Nantucket Together" is a grassroots citizens group of Nantucket homeowners with strong ties to the island, who are focused on the preservation of traditional vacation rentals and support for the local economy.
We believe proposals to significantly curtail the lodging visitng families prefer, will have a profound impact on Nantucket's economy, its tax revenue, and the property rights of all residents. Legislating far-reaching changes without a factual understanding of the impact is reckless.
We are a 100% volunteer non-profit that does not accept donations from corporations or investor-only short term rental operators.
OUR OBJECTIVES:
- Share information and elevate issues.
- Speak with one voice.
- Represent the entire island community with organized force.
- Propose solutions to the island's challenges.
- Oppose and defeat initiatives that are harmful to our community.
- Support quality of life initiatives.
- Prevent future commercialized residential investment, by off-island corporations, designed principally for financial gain, and with no family or personal ties to the island.
- Offer temporary lodging in emergency situations for visitors and our neighbors
