Community Impact Fee GOES INTO EFFECT 1 OCTOBER 2024

As you may recall, Nantucket Together served as a voting member of the town-appointed STR Work Group in 2022, which led up to several town-submitted STR Articles proposed at the 2023 Special Town Meeting (STM) last fall. The only STR Article approved by the voters was Article 3 which authorized a Community Impact Fee of 3% to be collected by the MA DOR against STR revenues for operators with 2 or more STRs on Nantucket.  100% of this revenue will be transferred to the town's general fund for use as the town decides and it is administered by the state.  All STR operators were recently notified by MA DOR that this new requirement to collect and remit this new source of town revenue, goes into effect 1 October 2024.
